What did he lose? What happened to the image of God in man? spiritual nature, a likeness to his Maker, Mind of Christ, Face-to-face, heart-to-heart communion with his Maker, law of self-renouncing love. Man’s physical powers were weakened, his mental capacity was lessened, his spiritual vision dimmed.
What changed? He had become subject to death. How does free will affect the fall? What is flesh? What is carnal? How evil is fallen humanity? Can divinity dwell in fallen humanity? How does divinity commune with fallen humanity? Is man born guilty? If so, of what is he guilty? If not, when does he become guilty? Christ came to our world because He saw that men were lost. They had lost the image and nature of God. He saw that they had wandered far from the path of peace and truth, and that, if left to themselves, they would never find their way back. He came with a full and complete salvation, to change our stony hearts to hearts of love, to change our sinful natures into His nature, and that, by being partakers of the divine nature, [see 2Pet 1:4] we might be redeemed and made ready for heaven..

When man sinned, heaven was filled with sorrow. Man was out of harmony with the nature of God, unyielding to the claims of His law, Nothing but destruction was before the human race. Since the divine law is as changeless as the character of God, there could be no hope for man. So, a plan was devised that his transgression might be pardoned, his nature renewed and his spirit restored to reflect the image of God. Divinity is to be restored in willing humanity. This is the will of God.
